SPORK FOOD HUB: ACCESS TO LOCAL FOOD FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST

Spork Food Hub was started by Hope Sippola and Shayne Zurilgen (co-owners of Fiery Ginger Farm) in the middle of the COVID-19 Pandemic as a response to supply chain challenges that schools in Sacramento County were facing.

Since their start in the Summer of 2021, Spork Food Hub has expanded to supply fresh local produce to school districts, universities, food security programs, hospitals, and other institutions.

The Challenge

Hope Sippola and Shayne Zurilgen came to us at a pivotal time for their organization. As a quickly scaling business Spork Food Hub was heads down on growth, operations and customer satisfaction. Their brand strategy, marketing and online presence was neither representative nor keeping up with their current activities, customers, and impact.

The solution

Atelier JKL developed a strategic positioning bringing key stakeholders together in dynamic workshops to shape their future direction. A focus on “giving access to local food for those who need it most” was distilled into a powerful vision statement. This vision inspired our creative team to design stunning visual identities and cohesive color palettes for the websites of Spork Food Hub and Fiery Ginger Farm, forging a strong and unified brand presence for these interconnected agri-businesses.

We artfully wove together the stories of both entities and our narrative highlighted the remarkable growth of Fiery Ginger Farm and the impressive impact of Spork Food Hub, showcasing how a vibrant local food system can transform communities and make sustainable, healthy food accessible to all. This project demonstrates the profound potential of local food systems and encourages greater awareness and participation, making it clear that everyone can be part of this transformative movement.
